A 28-year-old who was stabbed in the head while out at a Reading nightclub has woken up from a two-week coma.
Tharel Thompson was attacked within the Walkabout club on Wilson Terrace on February 11, with emergency services rushing him to the hospital where he underwent two major surgeries.
The Barbados national has since been put into a medically induced coma, stacking up hospital fees in excess of £150,000 as Mr Thompson wasn't eligible for free NHS treatment.
Now Yvonne Thompson, Mr Thompson's mother has issued an update on his health.
She said: "He is out of the coma, he is awake. He is drowsy, he still has the breathing tube in his nose to help him breathe but he has a lot of movement on his right hand and his right foot.
"His left hand this morning, he was able to place it on his chest, but the left side of his body is going to take some time to heal.
"He is coming around and I want to say thank you for all the continued prayers and support. Thank you very much."
Mr Thompson started to wake up on Tuesday and has gradually been coming around since.
"He now squeezes your hand or gives you a thumbs up."
