1. Reading restaurants and shops at risk of closing down

Some of the most popular restaurant chains and stores with places in Reading could close next year.

The places that are at risk include steakhouses, a cinema, a supermarket and more.

In all, 10 restaurants and shops have been identified as places which could close.

2. Thousands of fish released into Reading waters

Reading Chronicle:

Rivers feeding the River Loddon have been restocked with thousands of fish to promote healthy habitats.

Money from fishing licences has helped spruce up rivers in Berkshire and north Hampshire.

More than 2,000 fish have been introduced into waters around Reading and Basingstoke as the Environment Agency prepares for the spring spawning season.

3. Reading mum desperate at freezing conditions in flat

Reading Chronicle:

A mum from Reading has expressed her desperation over being left in freezing temperatures at her council flat.

Elaine Parry-Taylor is a single mum who lives on her own at a top-floor council flat in Corwen Road, Tilehurst.

Since moving there in 2019 she has faced a myriad of issues, with damp, mould and a lack of hot water.

4. Green parakeets seen across Woodley updated photos

Reading Chronicle:

As previously reported, many Woodley residents have recently noticed several exotic birds in their gardens.

A post released on Facebook detailed a sighting of green “Ring-Necked Parakeets,” one of which was photographed in Mr Rob Gladwin’s garden.

Upon the release of this photo, numerous other members of the community shared their views on the parakeets gracing Woodley’s trees, feeders, and skies.

5. New all-you-can-eat restaurant Reading centre reaction

As previously reported, a new all-you-can-eat restaurant has recently opened in Reading’s town centre.

Aka BBQ Station has just set up shop on St Mary’s Butts, the site formerly being occupied by Pizza Express.

Serving traditional Korean cuisine, Aka prides itself on being a one-of-a-kind buffet and BBQ restaurant.
