YOU can help spread festive cheer this Christmas by being a Secret Santa for a disadvantaged child or young person in Reading.

Each year Connect Reading organises The Giving Tree by working with charities in Reading who ask the children and young people they support what they would really like for Christmas.

The organisation then gives people the opportunity to give a gift the recipient will really love.

This year The Giving Tree is moving online.

By donating, your money will be buying a gift a child will really love this Christmas.

This year Connect Reading has taken the event online, so it can raise funds to distribute to charities so they can still buy their gifts. Connect Reading said it is aiming to raise £11,000 which will enable more than 1000 gifts to be bought by 11 local charities.

At the time of writing, £2,355 has been raised.

Alongside this fundraising it has also paired up six local charities with businesses who have pledged to buy almost £5,500 worth of gifts.

All donations will allow Connect Reading to make sure that no child misses out on the magic of The Giving Tree this Christmas.
