A VIOLENT shoplifter is not allowed to enter a retail park after making threats towards a staff member.

Dale Hayward, 32 from Reading was given a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at Reading Magistrates’ Court last Friday, March 6.

It comes after a shoplifting offence which happened in August last year, for which he was sentenced at the same hearing.

The CBO will be in place for two years and prevents Hayward from entering Newbury Retail Park and Tesco Extra Superstore on Pinchington Lane, Newbury.

Hayward will not be allowed there after he behaved in an aggressive, intimidating and threatening way towards a member of staff.

If he breaches the order he will be arrested, and upon conviction, could be sentenced to up to five years’ imprisonment.

PC Peter Duffy, problem solving team officer, based at Newbury police station, said: “I am glad the courts have supported the police and the retail community by issuing him with this CBO.
