A SECOND person has tested positive for coronavirus in Reading, according to health bosses.

Public Health England has confirmed there is now two patients who have tested positive for Covid-19.

It comes after Reading Borough Council confirmed the first case in Reading yesterday afternoon.

Across Berkshire the latest Public Health England figures, as of 9am this morning (March 12) are as follows:

  • Reading: 2
  • Wokingham: 3
  • Bracknell: 4
  • Maidenhead: 1
  • Slough: 1
  • West Berkshire: 0

Nationally, the total number of cases are at 590 and eight deaths - although NHS England has today confirmed two more on top of this.

Following a COBRA meeting today, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the real picture is more likely to be more than 5,000 and 10,000 people infected in UK.

He also said: "many more families are going to lose loved ones before their time'.
