Woodley & District U3A is one of over 1,000 UK-wide U3As and is part of the Thames Valley Network of U3As.

It is part of an international movement whose aims are the education and stimulation of mainly retired members of the community — those in their third 'age' of life.

There is no minimum age, and involves people who are no longer in full-time employment. It is run on a self-sufficient basis by members for members.

Groups usually meet in their homes and local venues and members can join any number of autonomous branches. Click here to find out more.

Ian Hillan said that most of the members attend the monthly presentations.

"I belong to the “Members On Their Own”, which helped me settle into England and to get to know other single people; the sewing group and the crochet group; the "Out and About" Group - to better know the countryside, buildings, art galleries etc.”
