A local family has recently welcomed a fourth-generation member of their happy clan.

Nikki Braidwood said that her eldest daughter Rebecca Evans-Perry has had a new baby Elizabeth-May who was christened with the whole family in attendance.

“I’m an only child,” Mrs Braidwood said. “And my mum’s still around she’s 90. I moved to Reading when I was about 18 and had my two girls at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.”

When asked how the christening went, Mrs Braidwood said it was "Amazing! She was so well-behaved. She’s such a happy baby.”

She said that her daughter Mrs Evans-Perry has taken to motherhood like a “Duck to water” and that she wishes it had been that easy for her when she had her two girls.

Mrs Braidwood’s mother Doreen Riches is almost 91 years old and attended the christening with the rest of the family.

“She may be in her 90s but she doesn’t look or act like she is at all,” Mrs Braidwood said. “She’s still got all her faculties but does use a mobility scooter or wheelchair now.

“She lives on her own in Burghfield now and we’re just up the road so it’s really easy for us to visit her and vice versa.”
