Reports have come in that Greggs on Whitley Street is closing for good this weekend.

A member of staff at the popular chain bakery has confirmed that the branch is sadly closing its doors after struggling to meet the surging rent prices.

Greggs Whitley Street will officially close for good this Saturday February 10 at 3 pm.

The member of staff said that their landlord has increased the rent so much that they would have to make an extra three thousand pounds a week to cover the cost.

They also said that staff that currently work at the Whitley Street site will be redistributed to other Greggs in the Reading area.

This news comes as many establishments in Berkshire are having to shut up shop due to the ongoing rise in rental prices.

Having just opened a year prior, the owner and staff at Genesis are deeply saddened to close their beloved crystal shop. Read more here.
