As many had been waiting with bated breath for snow over Christmas, we are pleased to announce that the first snowfall of 2024 has been sighted.

At approximately 1:30 pm this afternoon January 8, a light flurry of snow started falling in Reading town centre.

We also got sent this video from the University of Reading.

A spokesperson for the university said: "We have been keeping records of the weather at the University every day since 1908 and today we saw snow over our Whiteknights campus, the first snow day of this winter.

"After the recent storms and floods, the week ahead bringing very cold weather could bring some serious impacts to our economy and society.

"It is a helpful reminder that our work to understand the science and impacts of weather and climate are more important than ever."

Here's hoping there's loads more where that came from!
