A new Chinese takeaway has recently opened in Whitley leaving many local residents excited for the latest addition to go-to food stops in the neighbourhood.
Royal Chef has taken the place of a previous takeaway called Kens on Basingstoke Road.
The takeaway specialising solely in Chinese cuisine has enjoyed great success since opening its doors in mid November.
We spoke to an employee of Royal Chef who said that although they had experienced a somewhat quiet first month, business really picked up around the festive period.
“We were really busy over Christmas,” they said. “I guess a lot of people fancy a takeaway around this time.”
“We only do Chinese food, and a lot of people have come and got meals from us. We seem to be quite a hit.”
This news comes as multiple other eateries have made their way onto the streets of Reading during the final weeks of 2023.
As previously reported, a new all-you-can-eat restaurant has recently opened in Reading’s town centre.
Aka BBQ Station has just set up shop on St Mary’s Butts, the site formerly being occupied by Pizza Express.
Serving traditional Korean cuisine, Aka prides itself on being a one-of-a-kind buffet and BBQ restaurant.
