After previous reports of green parakeet sightings across Woodley, many Reading locals have been sending in their experiences of seeing these mysterious feathered friends.

Colin Mcmurray said that he too has seen the ring-necked parakeets in Calcot.

“I live in Calcot behind Linear Park,” he said. “Over the last few months, we've had parakeets coming into our garden and feeding as well.”

Hayley Gibson also said that she is frequently visited by these exotic birds.

“We have had Green Parakeets visiting our garden since 2019,” she said. “I live by the river off Scours Lane. They are also seen in flocks in the trees eating berries.”

Aggie Gatt said that the parakeets have also been sighted in Colliers Wood. She said “I live in Colliers Wood and the parakeets are in good numbers observed every day.”

Kevan Hammond also sent through a picture of one of the birds feeding from a neighbour’s feeder next to Linear Park.

Tracey Curtis said that she often witnesses the parakeets. “We've had the parakeets in our garden a few times, landing in the apple tree. I am in Colemansmoor Lane, Woodley.”

Rakhee Miah also said “I have been watching and admiring them for a more than couple of years.

“They are always here in Wednesbury by the field opposite my house in the trees and skies. Usually a good flock of them more than 20. 

“It will be such a shame as they plan to build houses where these birds have been for a few years.”

Tony Quinn said that he too has had the exotic birds feeding in his garden.

He said: “We have had a couple of these parakeets feeding in our front garden, in Burbidge close, Ford's Farm, Calcot.”

Sightings of the parakeets have also gone beyond Reading with many reported sightings in other areas of Berkshire.

Helen Dodsworth said that she too has had visits from the green parakeets.

“We have had them in our garden in Finchampstead, Eversley several times recently,” she said.

Shelley Kimber-Smith said that she has had the birds in her garden in Wokingham quite frequently.

“They have been in the area for a couple of weeks,” she said. “They seem to love my apple tree.”

AK Phoenix also wrote in saying that they had seen the parakeets as far as Slough. They sent a number of pictures detailing the sightings.
