3. Sweeney and Todd pie shop Reading gets new hygiene rating

Reading Chronicle:

READING'S iconic pie shop has received a new hygiene rating from food inspectors.

Sweeney & Todd in Castle Street, Reading was given a score of four our of five after an inspection was carried out on November 2, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of Reading's 288 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 218 (76%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.

5. Sweeney & Todd pie shop applauded for 'best pies in Reading'

Reading’s iconic pie shop has been described as ‘second to none’ following 45 years in business.

Sweeney & Todd in Castle Street, Reading was opened by Alan and June Hayward selling everything from scotched eggs to classic homemade pies with every filling imaginable.

Although Reading has seen a fair few changes throughout the years, this business has stayed constant within the town and throughout the community.
