A WOMAN was sexually assault at a bus stop in Reading, say police.

At about 1.05am on Sunday (November 12), a woman has been waiting at the bus stop on St Mary’s Butts, nearest to Hosier Street.

She got up to get on her bus when a man walked up behind her and started touching her around her waist.

The victim turned round and the man tried to approach her again. At this point, the woman ran off and reported the incident to officers. 

A man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.

Investigating officer, PC Dale Halford based at Reading police station, said: “We are investigating this concerning incident and have made an arrest in connection with it.

“We are appealing for a specific witness to come forward who we believe the offender was being aggressive to before the sexual assault.

“The witness is described as a white British man wearing a red beanie hat, a navy body warmer jacket and jeans.

“We would ask this witness or anyone else who may have information in connection with this incident to please come forward.
