A LOCKDOWN puppy will be facing her third Christmas alone inside a kennel.

Polly the two-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross was born in March 2020 during the first lockdown and arrived at Dogs Trust Newbury later that year.

She has been with the charity since October 2020 and still hasn't found a home, facing her third Christmas in kennels.

The team are hoping Polly can find her forever home and have a better start to 2023.

She has been reserved three times during her time at the Berkshire-based rehoming centre, but each time, the reservations fell through, leaving her still waiting to find a home.

As a result of the uncertainty from such a young age, Polly looks for a lot of reassurance when she is feeling anxious or overwhelmed.

Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Newbury Natasha Tarrant said: "Polly loves people and is extremely clever and very affectionate. When she arrived it was clear she missed out on so many experiences as a result of the lockdown. Every dog needs the chance to be introduced to the sights and sounds of the big wide world so they can build their confidence and gradually get used to everyday life."

Dogs Trust believe Polly will be a perfect pet for the right family.

Polly enjoys playing with her toys, receiving a fuss from her carers, and keeping her brain busy with scent work and agility.

An ideal home for Polly would be located in a quiet location that has access to quieter walking locations, as well as a secure garden.

Polly would need to be the only dog in her new home as she is working on her doggy socialisation skills, however she is learning to walk with other walking companions.

Polly could live with children aged 14 and over who are happy to play an active part in her training and exercise needs.
