Five Reading cafes and restaurants have won blue ribbons in the 2023 Good Food Awards.

The Blue Ribbon for Delicious Dishes is bestowed upon those with high customer ratings or votes.

The Good Food Awards recognise hard-working teams who strive for excellence within their field.

The Switch, The Triangle

Opening their restaurant almost a year ago to the day, The Switch owners Zak Khan and Dan Davy hoped to bring a restaurant-like experience to breakfast and brunch.

The duo took four staff from the Village Coffee Shop, which used to stand on the same site in the Triangle, and focused on high quality ingredients as oppose to the standard greasy spoon.

Their efforts paid off in September when they were named best in London and the South East at The Prestige Awards.

The Tasty Plaice Fish and Chips, Park Lane

In 2021, it was voted the second best fish and chip shop in Reading, pipped to the post only by JFC.

This Tilehurst takeaway has a 4.5 star rating with more than 100 reviews from customers on Trip Advisor.

Cafe Yolk, Erleigh Road

This is not the first time the face has been recognized, having been nominated alongside The Switch for Best Café or Bistro of the year in The Food Awards England 2022.

Cafe YOLK also collected 'Cafe of the Year' at the Food Awards 2016, held at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester.

They recommend you try the Mexican brunch or Canadian breakfast.

Golden Dragon, Northumberland Avenue

The Chinese takeaway says it uses locally sourced Irish beef, chicken, and fresh seafood, which are carefully prepared daily by its chef.

The Avenue Deli, Royal Avenue, Calcot

The deli has racked up five stars on TripAdvisor, with customers praising every meal of the day from brunch to date nights.
