TWO people have been rushed to hospital after a gas explosion, with fire spreading to next door neighbours gardens.

Firefighters were called to Bodin Gardens in Newbury in the early hours of Wednesday morning (June 29) after a fire started in the garden.

Two Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) crews from Newbury Fire Station, a crew from Hungerford Fire Station and a crew from Theale Community Fire Station were sent to the scene at 1.15am alongside the Incident Command Unit from Maidenhead Fire Station and one RBFRS Officer.

Fire crews discovered a huge fire which spread to three other nearby gardedns. 

This incident also included gas cylinders, with one exploding before the arrival of crews.

A spokesman said: "Crews worked to extinguish the fire and made two other gas cylinders safe. Two people were also placed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Crews were on initially on the scene for approximately two hours, but have since returned this morning to re-inspect the area and ensure it is safe."
