We could spend all day debating our own ideas of what makes for a perfect takeaway treat or we could agree on one universal truth: Reading appreciates a good chippy.
In celebration of National Fish and Chips Day, we asked our readers last week to name the best chippy in Reading, to find out what makes their restaurant the plaice to be.
226 readers commented on our post asking where the best fish and chip shop is in Reading.
And New City Fish Bar in Buckland Road got the most votes.
Daniel Paul said: "Buckland road hands down" and Paul Wicks thinks "Buckland road still remains readings best chippy."
Kayla Maze echoed this and said: "Buckland Road hands down" and Dianne Chandler said: "No longer live in Reading but if visiting family and we have fish and chips for lunch it has to be Buckland Road."
Karen Irwin-Murphy also said: "Buckland Road. Been there 40 odd years. Unbeatable."
