A HEARTBROKEN best friend is crying out for support after a mum-of-two was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Sarah Hill from Woodley, Reading set up a Go Fund Me page appealing for £90,000 to help her best-friend Stacy get the best treatment possible.

Stacy Watkins was diagnosed with a very rare incurable tumour in her cervix in October last year.

The mum-of-two is battling stage 4 cancer and is having to undergo a blood transfusion following a strong dose of chemotherapy.

Reading Chronicle:

As well as suffering from her own health, her fiance Daniel Price is awaiting an operation to have a tumour removed from his spine.

Their two children, Hayden (18) and Tia (15) also suffer with heart conditions.

Stacy's best friend of 15 years spoke out about the family's 'heartbreaking and unheard of situation'.

Sarah Hill said: "She's just amazing. I've not cried or anything in front of her but break down when I talk to others about it. We've been friends for about 15 years ever since our children were in primary school. I remember Tia when she was admitted to Great Ormand Street hospital and how hard it was for Stacy then.

"She has had to deal with so much. You just can't write this stuff up - I can't believe it's happening. I worry about them all the time. Daniel said to me 'if I don't laugh I'll cry'. They're in this financial situation too as Daniel has had to stop work."

The family hope £90,000 will give Stacy the best chance of survival through private treatments which the NHS can't do.

There are lots of alternative options for treatment in Mexico but consultations cost between £250 to £450.

Sarah explained what it's like seeing her best friend with cancer.

"She's completely honest with me. Yesterday we were messaging and she said how she is screaming and crying inside. I told her you just need to cry - you can't always be strong. She asked me 'will you shave my hair for me?' Inside, I was crying inside because no one should have to do that for their best friend. It's totally heartbreaking, you just can't believe it.

"Even asking me to help write a letter for her daughter's wedding day and son's graduation. I'd like to think that if it ever came to that we can say we did everything we could and at least we tried. You just have to hope and pray in the research and treatments out there to prolong her life for her.

The fundraiser has had lots of support already with £18,690 raised from well-wishers.

Sarah, who is a carer herself, praised how positive and supportive people have been.
