A READING man has been spared prison despite ‘destroying’ a police vehicle and assaulting an officer.

Joshua Bunce, of Larkside Close, Spencers Wood, ‘destroyed’ the police vehicle and assaulted the officer by beating him in Winnersh on March 25, 2021.

He appeared before a judge in October to admit to the offences.

Earlier this month, the 19-year-old was back in court for his sentencing, where he was handed a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

As part of his sentence, Bunce will also have to take part in up to 20 rehabilitation activity days.

He must carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months, too.

A compensation order of £200 was also handed to the young man.

Bunce appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 15.
