A PUB in Reading will be opening its doors tomorrow ahead of its £842,000 refurbishment.

Back of Beyond opens its doors to the public tomorrow (November 10) showing off its kitchen upgrade and new beer garden.

The Wetherspoons pub, run by Rachel and Jason Lord, first opened in Reading 25 years ago and has since been extended to utilise the space.

Rachel Lord said: "We are thrilled with all of our new facilities, particularly the new look garden which will provide a lovely outdoor space for our customers.”

The existing beer garden has now doubled in size and will reopen to punters on Monday, November 22.

The garden, which overlooks the Kennet and Avon Canal, can now accommodate seated customers at free-standing garden dining tables and chairs, as well as bench seating and canopies.

A local barge artist has also painted a mural inspired by the Kennet and Avon Canal on the garden fence, which runs alongside the pub next to the river.

The outside space is also decorated with hanging baskets, together with potted trees, climbing plants, flowers and shrubs, as well as festoon lighting.
