Is it too early to be putting up Christmas decorations? One Reading bar is saying it’s the most wonderful time for the beer.
As winter approaches, Mojito Beach Bar, in Oracle Riverside, has been rebranded as a ‘lapland’ – filled with igloos, reindeers, Christmas trees and baubles.
Christmas music has not started yet but staff assured the Reading Chronicle that would be coming in November.
As they welcomed customers, one bartender said: “They are surprised but they like it anyway. There are some restaurants with Christmas decorations already.”

“Christmas, this year starts early – maybe because last December we didn’t know if we were going to be closed or not.”
The bar on the River Kennett is better known for it’s beach huts and deck chairs, but Dave, who the bartenders referred to as their ‘‘best customer ever’ said he approved.

“I love it down here it’s great, probably for the last six years I’ve been coming down.”
Commenting on the Christmas decorations he said: “Probably a bit too soon if I’m honest, but what are they going to do? They’ve closed the summer bar, they don’t to Oktoberfest so, it’s fine isn’t it – I like it.”
