ONE person has died in West Berkshire after testing positive for Covid-19 in just 24 hours taking the overall number of victims to 258.

Official Government figures show that as of 4pm on Sunday, September 12, a further 39 new coronavirus cases were registered in the area.

The rate of infection in Berkshire now stands at 410 cases per 100,000 people, far higher than the England average of 342.7.

The UK has recorded further 56 Covid-related deaths and 29,173 new cases with 1,073 patients admitted to hospital, Public Health England confirmed.

The number of people who have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine has reached nearly 89.1 per cent, while those with a second dose is just above 80 per cent.
