A MAN in his 30s has suffered a fractured ankle after being hit by a car on the IDR in Reading.

At 6pm on Wednesday, September 1, police said there was a crash between a pedestrian and a red car on the A329 near the junction of the A33 in Reading.

The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, suffered a fractured ankle and remains in hospital at this time.

Officers said the red car failed to stop and drove away.

The crash happened after police officers chased the 30-year-old man by foot.

As a result, a mandatory referral has been made the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Investigating officer, PC Matt Woollams-Seeney, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, based at Three Mile Cross, said: “I am appealing for witnesses to this incident whereby a pedestrian has sustained injuries after this collision.

“I would ask that anyone who was in or near the area in which this collision took place, to get in touch with us if you saw anything or have any information on it.

“Also, if any motorists in the area that have dash-cam please check as to whether anything significant was caught, as it could help our investigation.
