A TOP cop in charge of protecting Britain's nuclear deterrent was cleared of flashing a female cyclist - after a court heard he was having a WEE.

Superintendent Chris Yates, 57, was accused of becoming "aroused" and following the victim after she cycled past his car.

She claimed Supt Yates had pulled his shorts down and exposed himself to her after he pulled up in a layby in Chieveley, Berks.

A court heard the senior officer performed a sex act on himself as she cycled past his black Renault Clio on May 6 last year.

Supt Yates, of Newbury, Berks., denied indecent exposure when he appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court on Thursday (5/8).

John Carmichael, prosecuting, said: "You were out and about, saw a pretty young woman on a bicycle and you were aroused.

"You did something out of character.

"Were you under a great deal of pressure at work?"

Supt Yates, who had been a police officer for 37 years and now led a team at Atomic Weapons Establishment in Reading, was found not guilty.

He claimed he suffered from an enlarged prostrate which made it difficult to urinate and was "shaking himself" after having a wee when the victim rode past.
