THE following cases were heard at Reading Magistrates’ Court:

May 12:
MARTIN GALLAGHER, 54, of Windermere Road, Reading, admitted assault by beating in Reading on February 21, 2021.  Given a community order to comply with a rehabilitation activity and must also undertake 100 hours of unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £95 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
SIABHAN CASSIDY, 32, of Branagh Court, Reading, admitted drink-driving in Pangbourne on November 14, 2020. Found to have 116mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood, the legal limit being 80mg. Fined £200. Also ordered to pay £34 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 42 months.
LOUIS DOWLING, 20, of Test Close, Tilehurst, convicted of attempting to steal a Land Rover Freelander in Reading on February 2, 2020. Also convicted of assault by beating in Reading on February 2, 2020. Given a community order to comply with 80 hours unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge and £775 court costs.

May 13:
PAUL HUTTON, 41, of Argyle Road, Reading, admitted failing to comply with supervision requirements following release from prison, namely by not attending appointments on April 19, April 20, April 21, April 28, and April 30. Fined £60 and ordered to pay £50 court costs.
JADE RUSSELL, 32, of Willow Street, Reading, admitted failing to comply with supervision requirements following release from prison, namely by not attending appointments on December 22, February 23, and March 2. Fined £80.
STEPHEN COCKRAM, 27, of Cromwell Road, Newbury, admitted racially or religiously aggravated fear or provocation of violence by words or writing in Newbury on November 11. Also admitted drink-driving a moped in Long Lane, Thatcham, on September 12, 2020. Found to have 84mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood, the legal limit being 80mg. Also admitted using a vehicle without the correct insurance on the same date in the same location. Fined £311. Given a community order to comply with alcohol treatment requirements and also made subject to an electronic tag curfew for eight weeks. Also ordered to pay £95 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 16 months.
ALEX SHARP, 25, of Montague Street, Reading, admitted drink-driving in Symeon Place, Caversham, on April 18, 2021. Found to have 73mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg. Fined £400. Also ordered to pay £40 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 18 months.
JOHN FRY, 57, of Queens Road, Newbury, admitted drink-driving in St Michaels Road, Newbury, on April 19, 2021. Found to have 68mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg. Fined £120. Also ordered to pay £34 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 18 months.
MARK WARD, 43, of Whitely Wood Road, Reading, admitted stealing £101.55 worth of meat items from Sainsbury’s in Reading on April 20, 2021. Given a conditional discharge for 18 months. Also ordered to pay £22 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
OSWALD WALKER, 33, of Linden Road, Reading, admitted stealing £101.55 worth of meat items from Sainsbury’s in Reading on April 20, 2021. Given a conditional discharge for 18 months. Also ordered to pay £22 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
GARETH LAING, 26, of The Oaks, Newbury, admitted failing to stop a vehicle when required by a constable in uniform in Hambridge Road, London Road, and Lowery Way in Thatcham on April 6, 2020. Also admitted using a vehicle without the correct insurance or licence in the same locations on the same date. Admitted taking a vehicle without the owners consent in Thatcham on April 6, 2020, and admitted driving a vehicle without due care and attention on the same date and in the same locations. Given a community order to comply with 100 hours of unpaid work. Ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving or obtaining a licence for 14 months.

May 14:
RACHAEL CLARK, 28, of Wokingham Road, Reading, admitted two charges of vehicle interference with the intention of theft in Highgrove Street, Reading, on December 16, 2020. Also admitted four charges of vehicle interference with the intention of theft in Reading on February 5, 2021. Sentenced to eight weeks in prison due to the severity of the offence and previous record of offending. 
LEE SHARKEY, 32, of Newtown Road, Newbury, was convicted of failing to provide a specimen for analysis as a vehicle driver in Reading in Northcourt Avenue, Cressingham road, Sycamore Road on November 28, 2019. Also admitted possession of a Class b drug cannabis in Reading on November 28, 2019. Also admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis in Reading as a vehicle driver on February 13, 2021, and admitted failing to surrender to Reading Crown Court on April 14, 2021, having been released on bail. Fined £80. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity and also must carry out 180 hours of unpaid work. Ordered to pay £85 victim surcharge. Disqualified from driving for 26 months.
LUCY FARLEY, 19, of The Oaks, Newbury, convicted of assault by beating in Newbury on December 30, 2020. Ordered to pay £100 compensation. Must also pay £22 victim surcharge and £387.50 court costs.
MARY-ANN FARLEY, 42, of The Oaks, Newbury, convicted of assault by beating in Newbury on December 30, 2020. Given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £100 compensation. Also ordered to pay £22 victim surcharge and £387.50 court costs.
