A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads after he was caught twice over the legal limit.

Andrew Scott, 53 of Horseshoe Road, Pangbourne pleaded guilty at Reading Magistrates' Court on October 10 for driving a motor vehicle when his alcohol level was above the limit.

Scott was seen by officers leaving a petrol station shop carrying two bottles of wine earlier this year in July at 7.30 pm.

He got into his car and drove off from the petrol station in front of the marked Thames Valley Police car.

Police officers stopped Scott and after a road-side breath test, he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

A test, later on, showed Scott was more than twice the legal limit and he was charged on September 23.

Scott returned to Reading Magistrates' Court on Friday, October 11 and was banned from driving for two years and fined £200.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Dan Lond, based at Pangbourne police station, said: "Drink driving is not acceptable under any circumstances and I am pleased with this outcome.

"In this particular case, the defendant was intending to drive for less than one mile, which he could have quite easily walked."
