A COUPLE are walking for two days from Reading to the London Eye to raise money for a charity close to their hearts.

Roxanne and Jadon are planning on walking more than 45 miles starting on April 20 and finishing the next day to make the long stretch to the London Eye.

The couple from Reading will post photos along the way to update their friends and family and plan on taking rest breaks.

Roxanne said: "I've been wanting to do a fundraiser for cancer research ever since my nan sadly passed away.

"This charity means a lot to us as we have both known people with cancer and the pain and grief of losing someone so we do not want others to have the sad outcome we have had."

Their friends and family have been very supportive and have even offered to take part to give them motivation.

Jadon, Roxy's partner said: "We're going to be leaving from our house in the early hours and will stop along the way for breaks and lunch. We will arrange a hotel along the route where we will stop over and sleep at.

"We're expecting it to be difficult, but it will be an exciting challenge for both of us and it will raise money for a good cause.

"It will be very tough and tiring. Not only will it help us be fitter and healthier, it will help Cancer Research Uk continue the fight against cancer."

Roxanne and Jadon have raised £50 away from their 1k target.

Jenny Makin, spokesman for Cancer Research UK in Berkshire said: "It's fantastic to hear of Roxanne's challenge and we wish her and Jadon the best of luck for the walk to London.

"So many lives are touched by cancer. As a charity we are on a mission to see three in four people survive the disease by 2034.

"With no government funding we can't do this without the help of supporters like Roxanne and Jadon and we are enormously grateful for their efforts."

The couple are currently trying to find suitable walking boots to complete their walk.
