Hermione Walker followed her home in 75th, with Naomi Harris 95th on her first outing at that level.

Isobel Barnett completed the scoring team of four by finishing 117th to secure 14th place for Reading overall out of 42 teams.

Reading also fielded a ‘B’ team which finished 39th. The team was made up of Georgia Whalley (141st), Amber Hoadley (174th), Paige Mills (212nd) and Lucy Robertson (213rd).

Reading U15 girl’s finished a creditable 15th place overall in their race over 4km.

Kirsty Walker produced the best individual result of the day for the club. She started very brightly and picked up again in the latter stages to claim 28th place in a field of 250.

Yasmin Bartlett (72nd), Ella Saunders (73rd) and Ceri Barnes (138th) completed the scoring positions.

Georgia Hayes also gained good race experience as she opened the account for Reading’s second team in 173rd. This was closed out in quick succession as Sophia Lunn (214th), Chloe Robertson (215th) and Darcey Smith (216th) followed them home. The team came 34th overall.

Haines was first back over the 6km track in 44th with West five positions behind.

Reading entered eight athletes in the U17 women’s race over 5km where Lois Meredith produced one of the best performances of the day.

Meredith had been showing impressive form recently and she took that confidence into the race to finish 53rd.

Yaz Thompson also caught the eye in 97th spot ahead of Georgia Walton (103rd) and Lydia Blythe (118th) which was good enough for 14th in the team standings.

Roisin O’Donahue opened the account for the second Reading team with a better effort of 125th, Alanna Rayfield soon followed in 128th, while Eva Thomas (135th) and Kate McKim (143rd) rounded things off to give them 17th place overall.

The final race of the meeting saw Reading enter four senior competitors – well down on the 14 who competed in the Hampshire League race a fortnight earlier.

But their effort could not be faulted in a field of more than 400 runners.

Naomi Forshaw led Reading home in 68th position ahead of team captain, Anna Boniface (74th), Sue Francis (107th) and Debbie Taylor (116th) which saw the team come 12th overall from 41 who entered.
