Johnson is set to unleash two of his young hopefuls onto the big stage at the Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey.

The experienced coach, who opened the Real Deal boxing gym in Reading back in January with fellow coaches Andy Edge and Nick Hussain, took six of his boxers to the televised shows auditions back in February with the hope of making the grade to compete on the British Eurosport shows.

And after impressing the show’s promoters with his promising crop of young hopefuls, Johnson is confident that it won’t be long before they are bringing titles back to the town.

Representing the gym first on the big night will be exciting welterweight prospect Andrew Doe and featherweight contender Daniel Neville.

And Johnson believes can both make an instant impact in the rankings.

With both divisions in the competition already packed with talent from around the UK, the duo will be hoping they can impress the fans and throw their names straight into the mix.

Talking ahead of the show, Johnson said: “After watching the competitions last event at the Alexandra Palace in London and seeing what an amazing platform this is for boxers, I’m very excited that the gym and Reading will now have a number of very special talents competing on the show.

“I’ve been involved in boxing for 25 years and I’ve travelled the country with my lads competing all over the UK, and I am very confident that all of the boys now training with me at the new gym have what it takes to be genuine stars of the show.” Out of all the gyms hopefuls looking to make their mark this year, Johnson believes welterweight Doe could be the pick of the bunch after enjoying a stellar amateur career that saw him win several national titles, and more belts could be on the horizon if Johnson’s predictions are correct.

“Andrew Doe has god given talent and when you combine his amazing hand speed, movement and accuracy I really thinks he’s going to go all the way in the Queensbury Boxing League,” said Johnson.

“I’ve trained Andrew since he was a kid and I’ve been with him during all three national amateur triumphs, and I think it won’t be long before he’s winning titles and becoming a big star on the show.” The gym’s boxers will be in action on Saturday, April 19 at the Epsom Downs Racecourse and for more information go to www.queensburyboxing.co.uk or call David Johnson on 007919 263277.
