READING Racers’ preparations for the new season are continuing to be hit by the bad weather.
Practice sessions have had to be cancelled, while the club were forced to postpone this weekend’s opening challenge match with Carmarthen Dragons as the Eastbourne track is not yet fit for racing.
So supporters must wait a little longer before seeing their young team in action as they look to build on last year’s Southern Development League title triumph.
The Reading management are excited and confident this will be another successful season.
New captain Stephen Whitehouse (18) and William O’Keefe, who recently turned 17, retain their places.
O’Keefe is looking to earn a return to the National League ranks, while Whitehouse is seeking his first chance at the next level.
Teenager Dan Gilkes will ride for Reading Racers.
They are joined by 15-year-old Dan Gilkes, who was impressive in his one meeting for Reading last season.
And 17-year-old Rhys Laker, who will be making his first appearances at league level, but has plenty of knowledge behind him and a real desire to prove his worth.
The Racers squad also includes Kyle Roberts, who was injured after just one match last year, and Jamie Bursill, who is looking to build on a productive 2017 in which he impressed in outings for several teams.
