TWYFORD lost 76-73 to Maiden Erlegh in their Kennet League (12-2 on Points) in their Kennet League Division Three East battle.
Barry Carter skipped Bob Wright, Peter Garraway and Jim Turner to a 24-16 win, but the other three rinks all dropped shots in the last few ends to give Maiden Erlegh victory.
An under strength Kennet LV League side struggled away at Windsor & Eton and lost 65-42 (8-2), with Jim Turner providing the sole winning rink.
In a mixed friendly at home against Suttons, the visitors proved far too strong and won on four of the five rinks to record a 93- 68 victory.
The winning rink for Twyford came from Steve Chamberlain, Tina Scherer and Phil Rose (16-13).
In a closely-contested ladies match at neighbours Wargrave, Twyford prevailed 47-45.
Rita Orde led Carol Hooke and Pearl Leavey to a 20-10 win after racing into a 10-shot lead at half-way that they managed to retain despite their opponents making a spirited comeback.
Ann Harris with Mary Coster and Jean Bennett (16-15) also hung on to a one-shot victory, having been 11 shots ahead at 12 ends, to secure the win.
- THREE Mile Cross B recorded an excellent 56-50 (8-2) win against Reading in Division Two Central of the Kennet LV League, although the A team lost 49-45 (8-2) to Prospect Park.
The club also lost 91-90 (11-3) to Wokingham in Division Two East of the Kennet League, and the Thames Valley Ladies team lost to Palmer Park 8-2 on points.
Three Mile Cross were knocked out of the National Top Club competition by Tilehurst, but won friendlies against Wargrave and Crowthorne. They also lost a friendly to Shiplake.
- THE University of Reading Bowls Club’s unbeaten start to their Oddfellows Triples League came to an end on Saturday.
They lost their home fixture 90-78 (10-4) against Shiplake, winning two of the five rinks.
The two University winning rinks were bowled by Terry Wardle, Paul Janota and skip Sandra Gomez (21-13), and the team led by Andrew Charlton with Martyn Mellor and Lydia Hand (18-13).
