ALBATROSS Diving Club finished second in the team trophy at The Armada Cup National Diving Competition.

Leading the success were Hal Watts and James West. Diving in men’s A+ (18 years old) Watts took gold on 1m, silver on 3m and placed fourth on platform. West took gold in boys C (12-13 years) 1m, bronze on 3m and silver on platform.

West also stepped onto the podium alongside teammate Quinn Shaw after winning bronze in the boys 13 and under synchronised 1m event.

Shaw also performed well as an individual (boys C), delivering PBs to place fifth on 1m and fourth on 3m.

Charlotte West also made the finals in all three of her events. Diving in women’s A+ (18 years) she won silver on 3m, bronze on platform and was fourth on 1m.

Diving in her very first Level Three competition, nine-year-old Lauren Saunders dived exceptionally well, showing poise and consistency to finish with a fourth place on 1m and seventh on 3m (Girls D 10-11 years).

Ethan Jones was a finalist in the boys B (14-15 years) 3m event where he placed sixth. On platform he delivered a superb PB performance to enter the final in third place. Tough competition on the day meant his final platform placing was fourth.

Three other team members were diving in men’s A+. Billy Minns dived well on 1m. His first seven dives were extremely consistent, but an uncharacteristic error on the final dive cost him a finals placing by an agonising two points.

Minns placed seventh on 3m. Edward Beal finished fifth on platform, while Finlay Cook won a well-deserved bronze on 1m and placed sixth in the 3m and platform events.
