A HEROIC late fightback from Reading Wildcats 2nds was not enough as they lost 8-6 at Milton Keynes on Saturday.
The visitors started slowly and found themselves 3-0 down after the first quarter, but Wildcats then rallied with a stronger defensive performance and did not concede again before half time.
However, in the third quarter Milton Keynes took total control to lead 7-1, only for Reading to suddenly find their feet.
They stormed into the home side in the final quarter, out-playing the hosts and winning the last stanza 5-1, albeit not enough to overhaul the earlier damage.
Rueful Wildcats co-captain, Chris Nicklen, said: “If we had started the way we finished the scoreline would have been very different, but that gives us something to work on.”
Wildcats 1sts return to action as they travel to Hitchin on Saturday, while the 2nds welcome London University to John Madejski Academy (2pm).
