Visitors Abbey maintained their unbeaten record and stretched their winning streak to 12 games with an 11-try romp, although Hungerford did create some chances of their own and were brave despite the one-sided scoreline.

The visitors had a dream start as Chris Shaw touched down in just the second minute, his effort converted by full-back Tom Waterhouse. Abbey notched five further first-half tries, and matched that effort in the second period.

Prolific centre Arron Ross scored yet another hat-trick, while Dylan Baptista and wings Scott Warwick both collected braces.

Further tries from captain Sam Hallett, centre Dan Love and Waterhouse completed the rout.

Abbey’s pack were particularly impressive, taking the majority of the ball whether from the scrum or the line out, regardless of who had the put in or throw in.

Luke Daniels was the standout prop and earned the man-of-the-match honours, while Shaw was adept at stealing Hungerford’s line out ball.

Abbey are likely to rotate their squad this Saturday as they welcome winless basement boys Littlemore to Rosehill (2.15pm).

The scheduled visitors have conceded five league games without a contest and it is believed administrators have warned the Oxfordshire side that any more will result in their dismissal from the leagues.

However, Abbey are confident the game will go ahead.
