READING FC will host Swansea City in the Carabao Cup third round.

The draw was made in Beijing, China, at 4.15am British Summer Time via the tournament sponsor's Twitter feed.

Seven Premier League clubs involved in European competitions entered the unseeded draw at the third-round stage.

Royals were tenth out of the hat and will face Paul Clement's Premier League Swans at Madejski Stadium on Tuesday, September 19 (8pm ko).

It is 10 years since the sides last met in the competition when Leroy Lita, who played for both clubs during his career, scored an extra-time winner at Liberty Stadium.

Lita also scored in 2005 when Reading clinched an extra-time win against the Swans, with Dave Kitson grabbing a brace and Adebayo Akinfenwa replying for the Welsh club.

Swansea have been in the top flight since beating Reading in the 2011 Championship play-off final at Wembley, though Royals joined them in the Premier League the following season by going up automatically.

There was little to separate the sides when they met during the 2012 Premier Leage campaign after a 2-2 draw at Liberty Stadium and 0-0 stalemate at the Madejski Stadium.

Reading reached the third round thanks to an extra-time home victory over Millwall on Tuesday night, while Swans got there by winning 4-1 at MK Dons.
