MATEJ Vydra is refusing to set a goal target for this season ahead of his Reading FC debut tomorrow night.
Royals paid Watford around £2 million on transfer deadline day last week to sign the 23-year-old Czech striker on a season-long loan.
Vydra is now expected to make his debut in Friday's night's televised home clash against Ipswich Town (8pm ko, live Sky Sports).
But he stressed: “I don't want to say how many goals I will score this season. I scored 22 in my first season at Watford and 16 last year.
“Hopefully I will get something similar this season but you never know. Maybe I will get 20 assists instead. But it doesn't matter who scores as long as you win and get three points. The team is more important than the individual.
“I want to help this team score many goals and hopefully get us promoted this year.”
He added: “I don't decide whether I am playing because I am not the gaffer, but I try and show him I am ready for my first game against Ipswich.
“Hopefully he likes how I train, but Nick Blackman looks good and strong like Troy Deeney did at Watford, so it will be nice to get a good partnership together.”
Meanwhile, pasta-lover Vydra says he is settling in well at Reading and is due to move into a new house later this week.
“I remembered the Madejski Stadium, but I had never been to Reading,” he explained.
“Now every afternoon I go into the town centre. It's really good, I will be happy.
“I have to find a really good Italian restaurant because I like Italian food.
“Pasta is my favourite. I played for Udinese in Italy and I love the food.”
