The Bashley skipper, who scored three centuries for the county last season, said: “Since coming back to the Berkshire fold 17 months ago, Tom has been a tremendous help.

“He has worked very hard on my batting and I doubt I would have scored so many runs last season without his help and advice.

“My brother James (the Berkshire captain) also proved a big help and I thank him as well as Lambo.”

Richard scored 539 runs in this year’s Unicorns Championship, including three centuries plus a half-century.

Former Hampshire player Morris picked up his award at the Berkshire dinner last Friday, when the chief guest was West Indies batting legend Gordon Greenidge.

Harry Stephens received the Eddie Pickford Cup, awarded to the young player showing the most improvement in the past year.

His Finchampstead team-mate Billy Rogers was named Berkshire’s Young Player of the Year.

The 16-year-old, who attends Charters School in Sunningdale, enjoyed a remarkable season for Berkshire Under-17s, scoring 860 runs, which included five centuries, three of which came on consecutive days at the Jersey Festival, where he was named player of the tournament.
