RUNAWAY Berkshire League Premier Division leaders Mortimer West End thrashed a severely depleted Peppard side by nine wickets to move within touching distance of the title.

Rain delayed the start by 90 minutes and the match was reduced to 35 overs. When play did get going the openers only amassed eight runs from the first six overs.

Tim Vines was Peppard’s top scorer reaching 46 off 44 balls until he was caught by Nick Bielby.

Bob Hodson did most of the damage taking four wickets for 35 as Pepppard were reduced to 126-9.

In reply Jamie Stead’s, solid 59, allied to Andy Hobart’s 42 and a useful 20 from Jonny Bray saw Mortimer home in 26 overs.

Sulhamstead & Ufton skipper Chris Mercer hit an unbeaten 53 as they cruised to Crown Wood’s target with nine wickets to spare.

Sulhamstead picked up maximum points after skittling their opponents out for just 82 before knocking off the winning runs in double quick time.

Reigning champions Grosvenor continued their resurgent finish to the season with a nail-biting win over Stoke Row. Mohammed Rafi hit 47 as Grosvenor posted 183-9. And in response Row were bowled out just one run short of that target.

Richard Ashton top-scored with 57 as Row lost their final wicket on 182.

Rock-bottom Harlington slipped to a 68-run defeat against Woodley. Ian Jubb knocked 56 as Woodley posted a competitive score of 182.

And Adnan Riaz took 4-30 as Harlington were then bowled out for 114.

Woodcote finished just one wicket short of victory as they recorded a winning draw against Sandhurst.

A knock of 47 from Titch Vickers helped Cote post 199-9. And figures of 4-30 from Jonny Clark put them within touching distance of victory, but Hurst held out on 155-9.

In Division One, West Reading continued their romp towards the title with a shaky one wicket win over Pinkneys Green.

The leaders looked to be cruising towards the win after Rahim Khan’s 6-27 saw Green bowled out for 75.

However Jagz Dhillon had other ideas as his inspired spell of 4-7 saw the West wickets tumbling. But they held on to take the win on 78-9.

Jon Wright was in inspired form for Stratfield Turgis as they moved into the box seat for the second promotion spot with a nine wicket win over Emmbrook & Bearwood.

He took 4-33 as E&B were rolled over for 108 and then he completed a fine all-round display with 54 runs as Turgis raced to 111-1.
