READING Hockey Club have two players in Great Britain’s 22-man squad for their European tour later this month.

Forward Lee Morton is one of two Scotland internationals named, while defender Dan Kyriakides will fly the flag for Wales.

GB will be playing Belgium at Beerschot HC next Thursday, June 14, and the following Saturday.

Next up are the Dutch in Breda on Monday, June 18, and then Germany at Cologne club Rot Weiss on June 20 and 22.

Players will receive caps for all games apart from the one against the Netherlands.

  • BEN Boon, a member of the GB elite development squad, has left Reading to join Premier Division champions Surbiton.

The 23-year-forward skippered the Blues when they recently won the Championships Tier 1 Final at Lee Valley, scoring a late equaliser against Beeston to force the shootout which his side won 4-2.

Capped by England at Under 21 and U23 level, Boon (pictured) said: “I’m really excited and happy to be joining Surbiton.

“This is a club with a proud history and exciting ambitions and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.

“With the club playing in the EHL next year, it is a great step for me to develop as a player, and I know it is the right club environment to take me to the next step in my hockey career.”

Surbiton’s head coach is former Reading star Mark Pearn, who said: “Ben is exactly the type of player we want in our team as he is quick, direct and always puts opposition defenders on the back foot.

“I will be working hard to help him to develop as a player and to make the next steps with his hockey career.

“I know his new teammates are looking forward to playing alongside him next year.”
