BERKSHIRE opening bowler Ethan Bamber took 1-26 from his seven overs as England Under 19s began their World Cup campaign in New Zealand with an eight-wicket win against Namibia on Monday.
Former Stags junior Tom Scriven was also in fine form, claiming 2-30 in nine overs as Namibia were restricted to 196-9 from their 50-over allocation.
Berkshire and Henley youngster Jack Davies kept wicket and did not concede a bye in the Group C clash.
England eased home as Will Jacks (73no) – who made a sensational 279 from 133 balls against Reading Blue Coat last summer – and captain Harry Brook steered them to a dominant victory in just 24.1 overs.
Berkshire’s Euan Woods is also part of the squad, but was not included against Namibia.
England next play Bangladesh tomorrow (Thursday).
