The draw for the last 32 took place last night with Royals and Stevenage ball number 26.
Jaap Stam’s men failed to get past League Two Stevenage on Saturday after the third-round tie ended 0-0 at Lamex Stadium.
And the Owls had similar problems when they took on the League Two Cumbrians at the weekend after their clash at Brunton Park also ended in a stalemate.
Reading will now host Darren Sarll’s Boro in a replay at Madejski Stadium on Tuesday, January 16 (8pm ko), the same night Carlisle are due to go to Hillsborough.
Fourth-round ties are due to take place the weekend of January 26-29.
