TWO Reading Athletic Club members competed in the 2016 LIA meeting at the Paula Radcliffe Stadium on Sunday.

Matt Treston – currently ranked number two in the United Kingdom in the Under 20 110m hurdles – made a good start and led after the first half of the race, but he dipped a little early and stumbled just metres from the line to be pipped to the line by James Weaver.

The winning time was a +4.3 wind-aided 13.79 secs, while Treston’s time of 13.85 secs was narrowly outside the 13.65 secs qualifying time for the World Junior Championships as.

In the women’s 100m hurdles, Amber Leigh Hall was hampered by hitting a hurdle in one of her warm-up runs, slightly straining her glute.

Despite this, she made a solid start and was in contact with the field at half way.

However, towards the end of the race the field pulled away slightly and Hall came away with sixth and a creditable time of 14.25 secs (+1.8), just two hundredths shy of her PB.

She defeated world junior gold medallist heptathlete Morgan Lake in the process, while Jess Ennis also took part in the meeting.
