READING FC top scorer Nick Blackman could be set for a switch to Championship title-chasers Derby County.

The forward - who has struck 13 times for Royals this season - was linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the day, with Sky Sports reporting a seven-figure sum had been accepted for the 26-year-old.

However, it is now believed that Blackman could be set to snub the Owls to join the high-flying Rams for a fee of up to £2m.

Derby boss Paul Clement has already signed Abdoul Camara from French club Angers but is believed to be in the market to further boost his second-placed side's firepower.

Blackman - who is out-of-contract in the summer - has scored 22 goals in 113 league and cup appearances for the Royals, but he has often been used as a winger rather than a specialist striker.

His most recent strike was the last-gasp winning goal for Royals against Bristol City on Saturday.

But he said afterwards: "I'm confident in my ability when I play as a striker. When I was scoring a lot of goals earlier in the season I was playing up front.

"The manager has asked me to do a job on the wing, but I don't think it's my best position."
