A man wearing a three-quarter length coat and trousers was seen shortly before a Mercedes was set on fire.
Firefighters were called to Colemansmoor Road in Woodley after a white Mercedes C250 was found ablaze at 3.50am on Saturday, February 13.
Now police are calling for a man seen walking along the road at 3.25 in the morning to come forward as he may vital information.
The fire caused extensive damage to the vehicle but no one was injured.
Investigating Officer, Detective Sargeant Will Crowther of Force CID based at Reading police station, said: "We are particularly looking to speak to a man who was walking along Colemansmoor Road towards Colemansmoor Lane Woodley at around 3.25am yesterday, who may have been wearing a three-quarter length dark coat and dark trousers.
"We would like this man to come forward as we believe he might be a witness and might have information that could help our investigation.
"If you have any information about the incident please call the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101 quoting reference 213 13/02."
