A KNIFE-wielding attacker who forced man to hand over cash and cigarettes is being hunted by police.

Thames Valley Police were called by a man who was out walking shortly before 10.30pm last Friday.

He was approached by a man from behind and followed into a garden in Headley Road East, Woodley.

When they reached the garden the attacker drew a knife and demanded the 46-year-old to give him cash.

The attacker, who was dressed in combat style trousers and a woollen hat, took an unknown quantity of cash from the man and a packet of cigarettes.

He fled the scene on foot towards Welford Road, Woodley, leaving the victim unharmed.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said they believe the attacker to be white, 5ft 11ins and stocky.

The spokesman said: "The victim, a 46-year-old man, was walking along Headley Road East, Woodley at about 10:25pm on Friday (9/10).

"He was approached by a man who followed him to a garden on Headley Road East before threatening him with a knife and demanding money.

"Money and cigarettes were stolen during the incident. The victim was not injured."
