The 44 year old threatened a staff member with a knife after they chased him following the theft and was charged with aggravated burglary on April 29.
He was found guilty of the charge by a unanimous jury at Reading Crown Court on Friday, September 11.
Det con Nicola Wright from Loddon Valley local CID said: "I am pleased with todays's sentence. I hope this will help the victim and also serve as a deterrent to those considering arming themselves with a weapon."
