A FATHER was rammed by a car after chasing down a gang that shot his sun with a BB gun.

They knocked him unconscious as they punched and kicked the 41-year old.

He had been walking along New Road Hill in Woolhampton with his nine-year-old son when a passing car fired a BB pellet at the young boy.

The shot was fired from a small black car driving past them.

The man chased the car on foot, running a mile after them before cornering the vehicle on Pease Hill in Bucklebury.

The driver rammed him with the car, pushing before two people got out the car. They pushed the father to the ground, knocking him unconscious as the kicked and punched him.

He was left with cuts and bruises and had to be taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital after the attack.

He has since been discharged. The young boy was not injured.

Now Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to the attack.

Investigating officer PC Teresa Miller said: "This is a serious crime, which has obviously been very distressing for the victims, and has resulted in one of them needing hospital treatment.

“I am appealing for anyone with any information, to get in touch by calling the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101, quoting URN 1317 4/4.”

A 19-year-old from Thatcham and a 17-year-old from Newbury have been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. Both men have been released on bail.
