A CAT whose head and tail had been cut off has been found in Tilehurst prompting a police investigation.
The decapitated animal, known as Ozzy, was spotted in Westwood Road on Tuesday morning.
A vet confirmed that the injuries were caused by a person and not being hit by a car.
The attack is believed to have taken place between 10pm on Monday and 8am on Tuesday.
Investigating officer Christopher Stapleton said: “The fact that someone could do this to a defenceless animal really beggars belief.
“This has had a big impact on the owner, who has lot their pet that they cared about.
“I urge anyone with information to contact us.”
