TWO men have been charged with supplying class A drugs following a police operation that involved 100 officers.
On Tuesday morning 10 properties in Reading and one in Basingstoke were raided simultaneously with seven people being arrested on suspicion of drug offences.
The two men arrested on Wednesday were Richard Bancroft, 35, of Underwood Road, Calcot and Robert Lecroix, 43, of Chatham Street, Reading. Both were remanded in custody and due to appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
During Tuesday’s raids police arrested five men and two women in total and the houses were searched using warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act and Section 8 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
Properties involved were in Chatham Street, Underwood Road, Richmond Road, Hodsoll Road, St Mary’s Butts, Blewbury Drive, Wilton Road, Blossom Road, and Berkeley Avenue in Reading and Browning Close in Basingstoke.
Robin Rickard, Reading Local Police Commander said: “We conducted warrants at properties across Reading as part of an operation to combat the supply of Class A drugs.
“The supply of illegal drugs will not be tolerated in Reading and we will always actively seek to bring to justice those who supply drugs.”
