Firefighters spent more than three hours battling a blaze in Sackville Street this afternoon.
Crews from Caversham and Dee Road were called to the home at 1.30pm after a second floor bedroom had caught ablaze and kept the fire contained with one hose reel but did not leave until 4.45pm.
A family of seven, two adults and five children, had escaped before the crews arrived.
